Liverpool are all set to place a final bid worth £40 million ($54m) for Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi. This will be the Reds' last attempt to sign the English defender, who has entered the final year of his existing contract at Selhurst Park. The Eagles will only accept a cash only deal as they need money in hand to sign Guehi's replacement this summer.

According to , clubs like Arsenal, Chelsea and Newcastle United are also keen on signing the England international, but the player reportedly wants a move to Anfield. Guehi, however, will not force a move out of Palace and will allow the two clubs to sort out the transfer fee. He made a brief appearance for the Eagles in a pre-season friendly game against Millwall behind closed doors on Friday, and Liverpool have made a final offer for the star.

Earlier reports suggested that Liverpool could consider including young defender Ben Doak in a swap deal to sign Guehi, but Palace reportedly will only deal in cash, as they too need to sign replacements and need money in the bank. Oliver Glasner's first choice is Sporting CP's Ousmane Diomande, but the defender's valuation is again in the £40m region.
