According to a report from , injured Madrid defender Carvajal could face a lengthy suspension in the Champions League after the full-back was involved in a half-time altercation with Arsenal winger Saka during the two teams' quarter-final second leg clash at the Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday.

The first leg in London ended in a 3-0 win for Arsenal. Coming to the Santiago Bernabeu, the Gunners had a chance to make it 4-0 early on after Raul Asencio tugged Mikel Merino inside the penalty area following a corner. Saka stood over the penalty spot and attempted a Panenka that was saved by Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois. Madrid vice-captain Carvajal appeared to take issue with the audacity of the effort, as his reaction suggested displeasure with the approach.

At half-time, Carvajal was seen speaking to Saka near the tunnel, with the two exchanging words before Carvajal appeared to attempt grabbing the Englishman. The altercation was quickly broken up by officials and players. Carvajal, who has been sidelined with injury since October and wasn’t included in the matchday squad, was also in breach of UEFA regulations as he was not supposed to be around the technical area. This incident could lead to a suspension for the veteran defender.
