Chelsea had initially explored the possibility of signing Hato as early as last December. Despite being just 19, Hato has already gained substantial top-level experience. A product of Ajax’s famed academy, he has featured 111 times for the senior team — a remarkable feat for someone his age. His ability to operate both at left-back and in central defence has made him a prized asset. The Dutchman is currently tied to a long-term contract at the Johan Cruijff ArenA, which runs until 2028. But Chelsea are determined to prise him away, seeing him as a future cornerstone of their defensive setup.
