He will see a specialist inNottingham tomorrow, but England team officials have admitted that thechances of him playing in the NatWest series look slim.Meanwhile, Gough’s rehabilitation after knee surgery is gathering pace. Hewill net with Yorkshire on Tuesday and play for their Academy XI onSaturday. If all goes well he will then play for the 2nd XI next week andthen be available for national selection.Mark Butcher will undergo arthroscopy operation on his injured knee onThursday, which will be followed by three to four week’s rehabilitation. Heshould be fit for the Lord’s Test against India on July 25.Finally, Ashley Giles has a strain in his upper back, which is likely to force him out of Warwickshire’s C & G Trophy match on Wednesday. However, he’s expected to recover in time for the Benson and Hedges final.
